 Florence
Airport is located about 4 miles north-west of the city
of the same name in the Tuscany region of Italy. The airport
is also known as Florence - Peretola after the nearest
village to where the origional airfield was built in the
early 1930's. Since those early days the airport has grown
into a fully equipped modern international airport handling
around 2 million passengers each year. The airport is
ideally located for tourists wishing to visit the historic
city of Florence and visitors fly in from all over Europe
each year to experience the culture and atmosphere of
this beautiful city as well as the glorious surrounding
Tuscany countryside.
Since 1990, Florence Airport has also been officially
named Amerigo Vespucci Airport after the 15th Century
Italian explorer. The airport's modern passenger terminal
has a full range of facilities available for travellers
including boutiques, banking services, cafes and restaurants
and passenger services including Lost and Found, First
Aid and assistance for disabled travellers.
The main car hire offices are located in the Car hire
Centre in the building immediately adjacent the left of
the Arrivals Area. The Hertz offices at Florence Airport
have a variety of vehicles available which range from
small economy hatchbacks to luxury cars such as Mercedes
and sports cars. For larger groups there are 6 and 7 seater
people carriers as well as minibuses and for couples wishing
to tour the local Tuscany countryside, Hertz Florence
Airport also provide convertibles such as the Peugeot
308 CC. Reserving your rental car in advance is recommended
as high demand can limit choice in the busy summer months
and this can be done safely and easily from the Hertz
website. Advanced bookings are discounted and also save
time at the airport. |
